On Saturday while I was hosting a bridal shower for my friend, Kyle took the kids down to the Safe Kids fair in Sandy. The highlight, and the whole reason he decided to take them down there, was Captain America! Kyle let him take his costume and his shield, which Captain America signed for him. People were all really impressed with Corbin being dressed up and Captain America also thought it was pretty cool.
Kyle is the best Dad ever! (Ask Corbin he'll tell you!)

Temporary
On Tuesday, Feb. 20th, Kyle went to work like any normal day. Went about his work when his boss came in and informed him that his company was going to be filing for chapter 7 bankruptcy. They were informed to pack up all their personal stuff, lock all the doors, and walk away from everything. There was no warning or anything. I couldn't believe it when I heard the news. No more than a week before this happened, Kyle had gone to his boss and had asked about his job. They had been doing some downsizing so Kyle had asked if there was any reason to be concerned for his job and his boss told him no. He was confident in their branch and they had a lot of work going on. So once again we found ourselves unemployed. We went through a roller coaster of emotions that day and a lot of the days following. The next day Kyle hit the job hunt hard. Fortunately, a general contractor that he had been working with on a project called him up on Friday and offered him a temporary job there to work on his Utah State project. We feel so blessed that this came along and remain extremely hopeful that he will have another job lined up before they are done with him there. We truly believe that the Lord works in mysterious ways and who knows, maybe this can lead us to a new adventure!

Our Valentine Date
For our Valentine's date this year Kyle kept it a complete surprise. All he would tell me was that he was super excited for it. This is something Kyle has never really done before as far as keeping it a total surprise so I was really excited. We got to the place and I was SO surprised. Thanks to Groupon, he was able to schedule a helicopter ride for us. It was amazing! We flew up over Ogden and up Ogden canyon, over Pineview reservoir then back down North Ogden canyon. I couldn't have been more surprised. After the helicopter ride he had made reservation for us at our favorite sushi place, Tona. Best Valentine date EVER! (Except for the one he proposed to me on!)

Valentine's Day
Valentine's day is a little extra special in our house, at least to Kyle and I, because it's the day that Kyle asked me to marry him 6 years ago.
We had a very busy, very fun day on Valentines. Morning started a little early when I got up and made breakfast for Kyle in bed.
After Kyle had left for work and the kids were up I showed them their mailboxes that we had made for them. I explained to them that throughout the day they would be getting special deliveries from Mom and Dad because we love them so much.
The first couple of deliveries the kids got teddy grahams and Corbin got some bubbles and Emma got a book.
We went and surprised Kyle at work with a candy bar bouquet that I had made for him. He was really surprised and Corbin thought it was pretty cool that we could see Dad at work.
We then went to play group at the church where the kids played, decorated little bags for their valentines, and than gave each other valentines. After play group we went home to find another delivery in the kids mailboxes.
When Daddy got home there had been another delivery where Corbin got a joker and a little joker car and Emma got her own sunglasses.
After dinner we had baths and then another special delivery came and it was mini bags of popcorn for each of the kids. They both LOVE popcorn and loved that they had their own little bags.
The last delivery was a doll for Emma and a Batman t-shirt for Corbin. I think that the kids really enjoyed their special deliveries throughout the day. And I really had fun trying to be sneaky and not let them see me putting the surprises in the mailboxes.
Kyle surprised me with not 1 dozen, but 2 dozen roses when he came home from work. One red dozen and one white dozen. So sweet! After the kids had gone to bed we had our own little Valentine's celebration. For gifts this year we decided to keep it simple and make our gifts. I was super impressed with Kyle, he made the ABC's of us plus he even wrote it on cute paper and put it on a ring. I wrote out 101 reasons why I love Kyle.

Our Monthly Date #1
For Christmas I put together a year of dates for Kyle. Each month has been planned out and some of them have been prepaid. They are things that we wouldn't normally do. For January I planned for us to go to the Clark Planetarium and see the Hubble 3D movie. I picked this for our date because I had heard that it was really good, which it was, plus when we were dating one of our favorite things to do together was drive up the canyon and look at the stars so I thought what better way to start out our year of dates than by looking at the stars.
After the movie we went to Tucanos for some lunch. Doing this date has started getting me really excited for the rest of our dates throughout the year.
I promised myself that I was going to document each date. I didn't do a very good job on this one but I'm going to try really hard to be better about doing all the rest of them.

Keep an eye on her
Corbin is really good about helping Mommy out by keeping an eye on Emma when she is in desperate need of a shower. I found them one day when I got out in her room trying on all of her new shoes that her Aunt Wendi and brought for her. It was pretty sweet watching Corbin talk to her and help her putting on and taking of the shoes.
Kanagroo Zoo
At the end of January, Corbin's friend Collin had a birthday and to celebrate a bunch of us took our kids to the Kangaroo Zoo. The kids had such a great time running around and going down the big slides, or racing in the obstacle courses. Emma was a little cautious at first but she warmed up and we both went down the big slide a bunch of times. She even got brave enough to go down some of the smaller slides.
