Pinning Adventures

My sisters in law and I have decided to start a new blog together called Pinning Adventures.  We all are a big fan of Pinterest and love trying out new recipes so this blog is dedicated to our attempts at the recipes we pin on Pinterest and our thoughts on them and if they were good and are a definite repeat or bad and you shouldn't repeat or even attempt to make it.  Come check us out at:

Hair Part 2

Like I have mentioned before my hair styling skills are a work in progress so I've decided that I am going to document any new hair dos I try on Emma just so one day I have proof that I did indeed try to do her hair.  Emma's hair is getting quite long but I don't think I really realize how long it is, mostly because her hair is curly so when I decided to try and do her hair in a ponytail I was surprised at how long it was and I think it turned out super cute and Emma was SUPER patient with me while I figured out what I was doing.

Mommyhood

I love being a Mommy! It is one of the most hardest, most rewarding, most emotional, most frustrating, most happiest thing I have ever done in my life and I wouldn't trade it for anything!

Magna-Tiles

For Christmas Corbin got these Magna-Tiles and the last couple of days he really has just enjoyed playing with them.  The other day while Emma was sick he sat a played with them for almost 2 hours.  That is a pretty big thing for Corbin seeing as he can barely be in a room by himself for 5 minutes and doesn't really like doing anything by himself.  As soon as his "creations" were done he wanted to take pictures of it so here are the pictures he took of them.

Hairstylists

Lately my kids have really been into trying to do my hair. Most of the time it is just pretending to tie it in knots or braid it but last night they decided they wanted to comb it and put clips in it.  Corbin got the comb stuck in my hair pretty good but luckily Kyle was able to get it out and teach Corbin the best way to comb Mommy's hair so that didn't happen again.  Corbin got frustrated a couple of times because he couldn't figure out how to use the rubber bands so we showed him the clips and he was much happier.

Princess Tangled

Emma's current favorite Princess is Tangled. That is what she calls it.  We try and tell her that her name is Repunzel but she just gives me a look like, "you are weird Mom."

Bath Time!

Apparently Corbin is so grown up that he is too old for baths.  That is what he tells me at least.  It's hard to believe that he is getting so big but I had to take a picture of my nice clean boy!

Valentines Day!

To be honest I have never been the biggest fan of Valentines Day.  I mean I don't hate it but it definitely hasn't been my all time favorite.  Last year I decided to change my tune about it and try and have it focus not just on the love I have for my husband but for my family so I started the mailboxes.  This year after Christmas, Corbin kept asking when the mailboxes would make their appearance and he was so excited for them.  I didn't think that they had made that big of a difference but apparently I was wrong.  The mailboxes were out yesterday morning and Corbin was ecstatic. It was the longest hour and half of his life waiting for Emma to wake up and go look in their mailboxes.  The first 2 deliveries were some gold fish and pez dispensers in their favorite characters, Batman and Cinderella.  After we were all cleaned up and ready for the day we went to Provo to surprise Dad and take him to lunch.  I was so proud of myself because I couldn't remember exactly where his work was (I've really only been there once) but I remember some of the restaurants around him so I was able to look them up and find his work.  He usually takes his lunch pretty close to noon so when I got there I was 5 minutes early.  I tried calling him and he didn't answer so I went into slight panic mode.  When I pulled up to his parking lot he was outside.  I pulled in and he looked over and saw us.  He came up to the car and we all shouted, "Surprise!"  I explained that we were there to take him to lunch and he started laughing, he had just eaten his lunch!  Apparently he was starving!  So he still came to lunch with us but didn't really eat.  Come to find out I spoiled his plan of running and getting flowers so he didn't have to do it on his way home but oh well.  While at lunch Corbin gave his Dad a card he had made and some gum.  Once we got home we had another delivery of books and then Emma went down for a nap.  After naps the kids found nerf guns and a Snow White doll in their boxes.  We then went to Activity Days.  When we got home we were surprised by Daddy being home and had already started cooking dinner and had brought flowers home!  Sure do love that man!  The kids had heart attacked the sliding glass door for their Dad and wrote things they loved most about him.  For dinner we had our usual, chicken parmesan, in honor of the first meal that Kyle ever made for me, but with it this year I made a fun Valentines drink.  The kids loved it!  During dinner Corbin kept mentioning watching Afro Circus (Madagascar 3).  Kyle and I just kept saying we didn't have that movie and that we weren't going to be watching any movies.  After cleaning up dinner Corbin went up to the ottoman and asked if we were going to do our delivery yet.  I looked at him and asked him why he would think there were things in there.  Come to find out that while I was in my room during Emma's nap he had snuck out and found them.  I was so impressed with how he didn't say anything or even acted like he knew where things were that I couldn't be mad at him.  We all just laughed about it and we made the final delivery, which were movies and popcorn for the kids.  I'm so glad that I have started this tradition with my kids and I'm really excited to get them involved more in the upcoming years by helping make Valentine's for each other.    After the kids were in bed Kyle and I had a wonderful evening watching some Office and just being together and reminiscing about the night we got engaged (7 years ago last night).

Unfinished Basement

We have been loving our unfinished basement. The kids go down and ride their swivel cars, or their scooters and just have such a great time.  Kyle has set up our camping chairs so we can have a place to sit and watch while the kids play.  Emma has gotten really fast at riding the swivel cars.  She goes through doorways and turns corners like a pro.  She also has gotten really good at riding the scooter.  It's really impressive.  Corbin has upgraded from the 3-wheel scooter to the 2-wheel scooter and does extremely well with riding it.  Another huge bonus to having an unfinished basement is it's February and Corbin has learned how to ride his 2 wheel bike without his training wheels.  We had some friends come over and they were downstairs playing.  Corbin came up after awhile and told me that he had done something wrong and needed me to come down and fix it.  Turns out he had taken his training wheels off.  Not sure how he did it but I told him that we would have to have Daddy put them back on.  That evening Corbin told his Dad what he was trying to do by taking off his training wheels so Kyle told him that he would help him try riding it and if he didn't like it he would put them back on.  Kyle and Corbin went back and forth quite a few times with little success of improvement.  Corbin started getting frustrated and so was Daddy so they decided to stop.  While Daddy went upstairs to take care of some business I was able to convince Corbin to let me try and help him.  In the 15 minutes Kyle was gone Corbin went from needing constant help to being able to start with some help and go all the way to the other side of the room.  It was so exciting to see him get down to the other side get off the bike and give me a huge smile when he saw where I had stopped helping him.  We are working on the turning aspect but I think the basement is a little small to really work on it but he is doing so great!  Come spring he'll be able to just jump on it and go!

Harlem Globetrotters

Thanks to Kyle's job we were able to get some sweet seats to the Harlem Globetrotters last night.  Corbin was a little confused on who we were seeing but once I showed him some youtube videos of who they were and what they did he was pretty excited.  Emma once again was a little nervous about the mascot, Globie, but once he left the court it seemed like she enjoyed the rest of the game.  Especially when Daddy went and got some popcorn and the bucket was as big as she was.  It was a fun family night outing!
