Baby Animal Days

Last week we braved the storm and headed up to baby animal days up in Logan with my parents and my brother and sister in law and their family.  My kids were so excited to go and spend the day with their cousins and see all of the baby animal days.  Corbin remembered it from last year but Emma did not.  Corbin jumped right in to holding the animals and petting them.  Emma was handed a baby duck and she gladly opened her hand to it.  The second it touched her hand she freaked out and did not like touching any of the animals after that point.  We got her touch the bunnies and the baby chicks but it was like pulling teeth to get her to do it.  She did however hold a baby turtle and she loved it and that's the one thing she talks about from the whole day.  Corbin told me his favorite was the bunny and asked if we could take one home with us.  After we saw all the animals we jumped into the line for the pony ride.  I wondered if Emma would freak but she was really excited and stood in line the whole time with all the kids.  Corbin had been looking forward to the pony ride the whole time.  We got the kids helmets on and walked up to the ponies.  I picked Emma up and placed her on the pony and there were instant tears and screaming.  I gave her a hug and said that I would stay right by her but she was going to ride the pony.  The ride started and I walked right by her.  There were times that I thought I saw a smile come out of her but then the tears would start back up again.  I'm pretty sure I traumatized her, which I do feel bad about, but I wanted her to know there was nothing to be afraid of.  After I got Emma off and handed her to my Dad I went and got Corbin and he had the biggest smile on his face and asked if he could ride it again right then.  He loves pony rides and tells me all the time that he wants to go horseback riding.  We then took the kids over to ride on the train.  Corbin was so excited to ride in the caboose with his cousins and they laughed and screamed the whole time.  Emma on the other hand wanted nothing to do with me and was mad that I even thought about putting her on the train so she sat and cuddled Uncle John through the whole ride.  I felt so bad that she didn't even want me.  After the train I took Emma and apologized for making her sad but it was fun and I didn't want her to miss any of it because she was a little scared.  She took my cheeks and said, "That's ok Mom.  I love you so much."  And we were good after that.

After baby animals we took the kids to lunch at chick-fil-a and let them play till it was time to go and catch Jason's shuttle which the kids LOVED and did not want to get off of.

This is the picture I took with my phone and sent to Kyle right before the ride started.
