4th of July

We had wonderful 4th of July. The fun started the evening before with our Annual Meeting of the Clans with the Liljenquists. It's the time that we get both Craig and Liz's side together. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures because I was so busy chasing Bode around making sure he didn't dive into the pool completely by himself.  We had such a great evening swimming and talking to ALL of our family!  After the party we headed to Centerville to spend the evening so that I could get up bright and early to run the Freedom 5K Run.  I was pretty nervous and pumped to run it.  The run started out pretty good but about 1 mile into it I got the worst side ache I have ever experienced and could not get it to go away.  I was so disappointed as I watched my Dad get further away from me.  Brett ended up sticking it out with me and we ended up just chatting, laughing and taking selfies along the way.  We did manage to run the last half mile and sprint it out to the end.  I am really sad how everything went down but what can you do?  We came in right at the 37 minute mark.  After the runners got done we headed over to the park for breakfast and then we ran up to get cleaned up and met the rest of the family at the parade route.  I don't know why but I love the Centerville parade!  I get even more into it as my kids get older.  As soon as the parade was over we retreated back up to my parents house to cool down, help pick beans and have a family BBQ.  It was so nice to have a relaxing afternoon and a chance to catch up with cousins and family that I haven't seen in awhile.
That evening we headed home and went to a neighborhood block party.  After which we went to the neighborhood above us to their cul-de-sac of fire.  We had heard things about this but were not prepared for what we got.  They had an air canon where they shot out candy, glow sticks, worm fireworks and they handed out boxes of sparklers to each of the kids.  They also passed out nachos for everyone that came.  When it finally got dark they started lighting of fireworks.  We had constant fireworks from 9:45 till 11:00.  It was amazing!  Bode ended up falling asleep halfway through them. I love the 4th of July and this year was definitely one for the books!
