For the last 6-8 months every Sunday Corbin will ask us if it is Fast Sunday or Slow Sunday. He's become very aware of the Sunday's that Kyle (I can't really fast because I am pregnant now) doesn't eat breakfast with us. There have been a couple of Fast Sundays that Corbin will tell us that he really wants to fast like Daddy. We have tried explaining to him that because he is so young that it is not required of him to fast but he is insistant on it so we have allowed him to do so. I am so impressed everytime he wants to do it. We only let him go 2 or 3 hours, mostly skip breakfast but I know that Heavenly Father is mindful of him and his desire and willingness to make this sacrafice at such a young age. We have talked to him a lot about what fasting is and he now knows that if he wants to fast he really needs to think about what he wants to fast for and he needs to start each fast with a prayer and end each fast with a prayer. He has been such an example to me these last few times he has done it. I know how hard it is for him and if he has time to sit and think about it I found that he starts complaining about it but yesterday as he was starting his fast I sat down and talked to him that fasting is a choice and if he is choosing to do it he needs to really think about what he is wanting to fast about and when he starts feeling like he is hungry to think about why he is fasting. As the morning went on I watched him as he started wanting to complain about being hungry he would stop himself and say, "Oh yeah. I'm thinking about the Ogden house." That is what he chose to fast about. I am so proud of Corbin and the sweet boy that he has become. I hope that this desire to fast and pray to our Heavenly Father stays with him throughout his life.
