The ER

On Wednesday, March 28th, I got a phone call from Kyle around 9 telling me that he had done something stupid. He had swallowed a pin. He had taken it off something and was holding it in his mouth while helping out a coworker when he went to laughed and accidentally inhaled the pin. He was on his way to WorkMD where they took an x-ray and then proceeded to send him to the emergency room. He called me to let me know what was going on and told me that he didn't want me to come down just yet. He ended up getting a scope done so my friend took Emma and I dropped Corbin off at preschool and made sure he had a ride home back to Julie's and I went down hoping that I would get to see him before they took him back. I stopped to pick my Mom up so she could drive one of our cars back. The whole time I had been laughing about it but the second I got into the ER and they rolled him back into his room I started crying. The Dr. walked in and told us that they were unable to find it during the scope which means that it had gone past his stomach and now was in his intestines. After calling a surgeon in to see if surgery would be the next step the surgeon thought it best to just send us home and see if it passes all by itself. So with a handful of gloves they wished Kyle good luck and we went home with strict instructions that if he has any type of pain that we are to go to the hospital immediately. Unfortunately it has yet to pass but fortunately he has had no pain. Maybe it will just forever be a part of him, or be a "piercing that no one ever sees" which is what the nurse called it.

The culprit (He had another with him so this is not the one that he swallowed):

Wow! I am glad he hasn't been in any pain. Ya, it is kinda a funny story though. :) Good luck with that Kyle!
