Memorial Day

We had a great Memorial Day! This year we invited everyone up to our house for a BBQ and some s'mores since this year we have a fire pit in our backyard. My Uncle Ron and Martha, who were visiting from California, joined us. It was fun to all get together for the holiday. The fun started with some swivel car races. The cars, which are intended for kids, were a blast. Even my Dad and my Uncle Ron joined in. When I was racing Alissa she ended up falling off around the corner.
It was such a great evening with fun had by all.  Good food, fun games, and even better company!

Emma was the chip queen.  She went around to everyones plates and would steal their chips.

First Family Hike

Last week for mutual we went on a hike up to a waterfall and my family decided they were going to join us. It was the first time that we had ever gone on a hike as a family so I was a little nervous about it but the kids were such troopers. Corbin did an awesome job climbing up the rocky path. The whole time he kept telling me that he was working on his spiderman muscles. Kyle looked like a pro hiking up the mountain with Emma on his back. We ended up having a really good time and it makes me want to do some more hikes this summer with out kids.

Do it all by Myself!

Our sweet little Emma has become this very independent girl.  She wants to do things all by herself. When I try to do it for her she will throw a fit or turn her head and fight me on it. So I've learned that I just need to be ok with her doing and just deal with the cleaning up. Seriously though, how can you resist a face like this?

Preschool Graduate

Corbin is offically a preschool graduate! He loved Teacher Natalie and I was so impressed to see how far he has come from the beginning to now. Their little graduation was so cute. The kids stood up and sang head, shoulders, knees and toes in Spanish. It was very impressive.

Twenty-Six

Last Wednesday I celebrated my 26th Birthday! To celebrate Kyle was so nice to come home early from work which totally made my birthday. Crazy I know but I loved it. We then went and bought some cupcakes to have to eat with the kids later. Jason and Alissa then came by the house to take me to get a Slurpee for free Slurpee day at 7-11. Yummy! Kyle than took me to dinner at Tepanyaki, one of my favorite places to eat, and then let me go shopping for a little bit. I had such a great day! I have never really struggled with getting older but something about turning 26 has gotten to me. Closer to 30 than I am to 20 now has rocked me a little. It's kind of crazy but oh well. I'm embracing it!

Miracles Happen

This is Kyle blogging, it doesn't happen often but I wanted to write down my experience of what has happened to me over the last couple of months.  As Megan had posted before, the company that I had been working for, Trainor Glass, closed up shop and declared bankruptcy back in February.  I was lucky enough to get a temporary job with Gramoll Construction but knew that it would only be temporary and not a permenate position for me.  So I hit the job market trying to use any and all of my networks to find something.  One reference I was given was to LCG Facades which was another glass company, so I sent my resume in and a little bit later had an interview with that company, but something never felt right about the job. I was never really excited about the interview.  After the interview I thought that they would offer me a job, and sure enough, they did offer me a position doing exactly what I was doing with Trainor, but I still wasn't very excited about the job and something just didn't seem right about it all.  So after many conversations, prayers, and sleepless nights Megan looked at me and said, "Kyle, if you don't feel good about this job then don't take it." The next day I called them and told them that I wasn't going to take this position.  After I told them this they told me that they would talk about some of the concerns that I addressed with them and get back to me.  About a week later they got back with me and made me another offer, but still I wasn't excited and had some reservations about taking this offer.  I told Megan that they had offered me the job and had tried to resolve some of my concerns, but I still wasn't excited and felt like there was something else out there for me.  Megan suggested that I go to the temple and continue to pray about the job.  So one day when I was going up to Logan to go to the jobsite and decided to go to the Logan Temple after work.  I was trying to figure out if I was having inspiration or indigestion about taking this job or not, one thing was telling me that there was something else out there for me,while the other was telling me to take the job because something is better then nothing, but I didn't know which was telling me which.  So I went to the temple and still couldn't figure out what was telling me which thing, do I trust my gut or my heart.  On a Friday before Easter, they sent me a message saying that they need to know what my decision was by Monday.  Well I knew I still needed help trying to make this decision, so I figured I would ask my Dad to give me a blessing on Easter Sunday when we are all together, however I forgot that Dad was on vacation and was not going to be at the family dinner, so I turned to my oldest brother Cameron.  I told Cam what was going on and what my delemas where, and asked him to give me a blessing.  He gave me a great blessing telling me that Heavenly Father loves me and will give the answer I need along with some other great words of wisdom.  So the next day I was driving up to Logan to go to the job site and as I started going up Sardine Caynon I decided to turn off the radio and pray.  As I was praying I pleaded with the Lord to give me more of an answer because I am having a hard time understanding what is telling me what.  After I finished praying, instead of turning the radio back on and going about my buisness as normal, I decided to practice some things that I was teaching my sunday school class and make sure to listen for the answer instead of just hanging up.  So I started running everything through my mind and was feeling like I should not take the job.  As I was coming out of the canyon I received a phone call from an unknown number.  I answered the phone and it was Okland Construction HR department saying that they wanted to set up an interview for this week.  As I got off the phone I could just feel my Saviors love saying that everything was going to be okay and that I should turn down the LCG job once again.  I called Megan to tell her what I had experienced and that I think I need to turn down the job.  She was supportive of my decision and so I called LCG and told them that I wasn't going to take the job.  I went to the interview and had a great interview with the HR manager and VP of the company.  The day after the interview I recieved an email saying that they really enjoyed meeting me but at the moment they did not have a position for me but wanted me to keep in touch and let them know when things start winding down with Gramoll Construction.  A week later I talked with the Operations Manager at Gramoll, who had become a mentor to me, and he told me to send them a email saying that I can be done with Gramoll in two weeks and to see what happenes.  So I sent the email and didn't hear anything from them.  Megan and I started freaking out that I had made the wrong decision and should have taken the LCG job because it was safe, but everytime I had that thought I had an overpowering feeling telling me that it was going to be okay.  a week and a half later I got a phone call but this time I recognized the phone number, it was Okland Construction calling me saying that they wanted to bring me in for another round of interviews Thursday morning.  I was a nervous wreck, I couldn't sleep the night before and so around 6:30 am I decided to get ready and head down to Okland even though my interview wasn't until 8:30.  I met with the operations manager for about an hour then a project director for about 45 minutes and then the VP of the company again.  He came in asked if I had any questions and said that they would get an offer letter to me by the end of the day.  I was freaking out, did that mean that I was getting the job or not?  I stopped at a gas station to call Megan, and fill up the car, while there I decided to get the car washed also.  As I was in the middle of the car wash I got a call from Okland saying that they wanted to offer me a job, and that they would send me an offer letter in ten minutes that I needed to review and let them know if I would except the offer, if so I would start Monday.  I called Megan crying in tears of gratitude and appreciation letting her know what had just happened.  I excepted the job and am now a Project Engineer for Okland Construction working on the BYU Life Sciences Building.

I am so greatful for the love that my Heavenly Father has for me and my family that he has been there to guide me through my life and let me know that everything is going to be okay.

First Piggies

Emma's hair is finally long enough in the back that I was able to do some little piggies. Pretty much the cutest thing I have ever seen!

Growing up

I think Corbin has hit a growth spurt lately. I had asked him what he wanted to wear for the day and I finally convinced him not to wear a super hero shirt and to wear a button up shirt like what his Daddy wears and when he came to me all dressed I started crying. Corbin looked at me like I was nuts, which I probably am but I just got a little sad seeing how big he has gotten. I cannot believe that our little man is going to be 4 just in a few short weeks.

Play Group

Play group was at our house this week. We invited everyone to our backyard and to bring picnic lunches. The Moms all had a great time hanging out on blankets and chatting while the kids ran and played. The weather couldn't have been more perfect. I feel so lucky to have such good friends in our neighborhood.

Sandbox

For family night Kyle and I decided to get our kids a sandbox for the backyard. We were both so excited to do this for them and the excitement they had on their faces once we got it all set up and filled with sand was priceless. They played in it till we made them come inside and go to bed that night and then were back in the sandbox by 8:30 the next morning.
